The superannuation clearing house service to join other ATO online services

The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House will join existing ATO online services in mid-to-late February 2018.

The ATO says its online services gives access to a range of tax and super services with one logon, including lodging activity statements and updating your business registration details.

The current super clearing house service will still be available before a brief transition period as the new look service is released. Information registered in the current clearing house service will still be available in the new system, however the ATO says that there will be a brief period when the clearing house will be unavailable as it migrates data from the old system to the new.

As a result of integrating with ATO online services, the ATO says the new look service will have added functionality including the ability to sort employee listings and payment by credit card. The ATO says that the look and feel will be different and the super clearing house service will no longer be accessible with the current user ID and password authentication.

For tax practitioners, the super clearing house will continue to be available for use for your clients when the new look service joins the tax and BAS agent portals in February. The clearing house service will be located in the “Manage Employees” menu in the portals.

You can advise your business clients that the clearing house service will join the business portal, which is the main tool with which businesses interact with the ATO online. Access to services, including preparing and lodging BAS, managing accounts and updating registration details, is through either “Manage ABN connections” through their myGov or using AUSkey.

Sole trader or individual clients will be able to access the super clearing house service through their myGov account linked to ATO online services.

To help your business clients prepare, the ATO has made available a recording of a relevant webinar that was held in late November 2017 which provides information on:
