Don’t forget that a fuel tax credit increase has gone through

Small business owners are reminded that fuel tax credit rates increased for fuel acquired from August 1, 2015. Don’t forget fuel tax credit increase.

While the next due business activity statement (BAS) is for July (lodgement due by August 21), the following BAS will be for August, which is due by September 21. That’s right, there’s been a fuel tax credit increase.

Rates are indexed twice a year in line with movements in the consumer price index, in February and August.

Before completing your BAS it is prudent to check online for current rates (see this Tax Office web page, which includes the August 1 rates). The rates here are for liquid, gaseous and blended fuels.

There is also a fuel tax credit calculator to help get your claim right. The calculator is also available on the “ATO app” (download it from here).
